How to See Order Flow on TradingView (2026 Guide)

Orion RFX

"Does TradingView have order flow?" is one of the most searched questions in retail trading - and the honest answer is more nuanced than most sales pages admit. This guide covers what order flow actually is, what TradingView can and cannot show natively, and how indicators bridge the gap.

Does TradingView have native order flow?

Not in the way a dedicated futures platform does. Platforms built for order flow trading (Sierra Chart, ATAS, Bookmap and similar) show footprint charts and full market depth from exchange-level data feeds. TradingView does not provide a native footprint chart or full depth-of-market view on standard plans, and for spot forex there is no central exchange feed at all - forex is decentralised, so nobody has a complete order book.

What TradingView does have is excellent volume data, bar-by-bar price detail, and a scripting engine (Pine Script) that lets indicators reconstruct order-flow-style information from price and volume.

How order flow indicators work on TradingView

An order flow indicator on TradingView estimates buying and selling pressure from the data that is available: where volume traded within each bar, how price reacted at key levels, and whether closes are being driven by aggressive buyers or sellers. From that it can derive delta (net buying vs selling pressure), highlight zones of above-average activity, and mark levels where large interest appears to sit.

Two things matter when judging any of these tools:

  • Repainting. An indicator that redraws its signals after the bar closes will look flawless in hindsight and useless live. Look for confirmed-bar logic - signals that print once and stay.
  • Honest data claims. No TradingView indicator can show you the true institutional order book on forex. Anything derived from price and volume is an estimate - a useful one, but an estimate. Treat "see exactly where the banks are buying" claims with suspicion.

How to add an order flow indicator to TradingView

  1. Open your chart and click Indicators.
  2. For public scripts, search the community library. For invite-only scripts (most serious paid tools), the author grants access to your TradingView username and the script appears under Indicators → Invite-only scripts.
  3. Add it to the chart and configure the timeframe and settings the author recommends.

Our own Orion Order Flow indicator works this way: it is an invite-only overlay showing delta and order-block zones with non-repainting, confirmed-bar logic - you enter your TradingView username at checkout and access is granted to your account. The full breakdown of what it shows is on the Order Flow page.

Order flow vs volume: not the same thing

Volume tells you how much traded; order flow analysis tries to tell you who was more aggressive - buyers or sellers - and where. A high-volume bar that closes on its low reads very differently from one that closes on its high. If you want the full comparison, read order flow vs volume on TradingView, and for the institutional-behaviour angle see trading the institutional footprint.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free order flow indicator on TradingView?

There are free community scripts that approximate delta and volume pressure. They vary widely in quality, and many repaint. Test any free script on a demo before trusting it live.

Can you see the DOM (depth of market) on TradingView?

TradingView offers a DOM panel for some broker integrations and exchange-traded instruments, but for spot forex there is no complete order book anywhere - the market is decentralised. Depth data on forex is always partial.

Do order flow indicators repaint?

Some do, and it is the single biggest red flag. An indicator using confirmed-bar logic prints its signals once, on bar close, and never redraws them.

Is order flow trading better than indicator trading?

They are not opposites - order flow tools are indicators, just built on volume and aggression rather than smoothed price averages. Most traders who use order flow combine it with structure and a tested risk plan rather than trading it in isolation.

Can an EA trade order flow automatically?

Rule-based order-flow concepts can be automated. Nebula, our no-code strategy engine, includes volume and order-flow building blocks among the components it evolves and validates into MT4/MT5 Expert Advisors.
